Rayan Opens the Scoring for Bournemouth
Bournemouth started strongly at Old Trafford and created problems for the Manchester United defence. The visitors eventually took the lead in the 38th minute when Rayan finished from close range following a free-kick delivery by Justin Kluivert.
Manchester United attempted to respond immediately, but Bournemouth goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic helped preserve his team’s advantage. United struggled to convert their attacking opportunities into goals.
Marcus Tavernier Doubles Bournemouth’s Lead
Bournemouth extended their advantage just five minutes after opening the scoring. In the 43rd minute, Marcus Tavernier found the net after a defensive mistake by Manchester United allowed Adrien Truffert to set up the opportunity.
The second goal left Manchester United trailing 2-0 at half-time. The home side needed a much stronger second-half performance to get back into the match.
Evanilson Seals a 3-0 Victory
Manchester United tried to reduce the deficit after the break, but Bournemouth remained dangerous on the counterattack.
In the 71st minute, Evanilson scored Bournemouth’s third goal after capitalising on a long ball from Lewis Cook. The finish put the result beyond Manchester United’s reach and confirmed a memorable away victory for the Cherries.
Despite their efforts, Manchester United could not find a goal before the final whistle.
Bruno Fernandes Starts on the Bench
One of the major talking points before kick-off was the absence of Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes from the starting line-up. Manager Michael Carrick made four changes to the team following the midweek defeat to Como.
United struggled to produce a convincing response, and the defeat intensified questions about the team’s form and the manager’s position.
What the Result Means for Both Teams
The 3-0 defeat was another disappointing result for Manchester United, whose poor run of form continued. The team must improve its defensive organisation and attacking effectiveness to recover in the Premier League.
For Bournemouth, the victory represented an important achievement away from home. Their clinical finishing and ability to capitalise on defensive mistakes proved decisive at Old Trafford.
Manchester United vs Bournemouth: Final Verdict
Bournemouth deserved credit for making the most of their opportunities and maintaining control during key moments. Rayan and Tavernier established the first-half advantage, while Evanilson delivered the decisive third goal.
Manchester United will need to respond quickly in their upcoming fixtures as pressure continues to build following the home defeat.
Final score: Manchester United 0–3 AFC Bournemouth.
